Eight players x 3 boosters x 15 cards means there will be 360 cards in your pool/table. You can expect multiples of staples like Swords to plowshares, Lightning bolt, Erhnam Djinn, Serra Angel, Counterspell, Hypnotic Specter etc. Each table will get a slightly different pool of cards with its own special theme like: goblins, zombies, thallids or prison.

Excited and want to practice? Here’s an example of a 360 pool used in last years 93/94 repack draft: Draft Table 1

You built a deck with the cards you have drafted. There will be a land station available but please don’t forget to return your lands afterwards. Bringing your own land is appreciated.

Cap: 210 players (fully booked, 12 on the waitlist) Fee: 65 euro (including lunch and diner)

Waitlist
If you are on the waitlist for an event then all you can do is…. wait. Wait till someone cancels his spot. When this happens we will contact you and ask you if you still want to participate. We will ask for payments if you accept the spot.
Most cancellations usually happen during September as a cancellation before October 1 will get you a 100% refund of your payment. Then of course there are the last minute cancellations bc of sickness, funerals and stuff during the week before the event. Free spots bc of cancellations close to the start of the event are usually taken by people who are already present for another event or by people living close-by who can do a last minute travel.

PreModern Repack booster draft (start draft 20h)

Right after the Swiss rounds of the Old School event we do a Premodern Repack draft.

We will draft in tables of 8 persons. Everyone will get 3 repack boosters. Boosters contain originals from Ice age block till the Onslaught block. To have acces to some good more expensive cards, like for example Volrath’s Stronghold, we will also use some WCD cards. Each booster in general contains 1 rare, 3 uncommons and 11 commons. To spike it up a little we will add a golden booster. The golden booster will contain 16 rares that will be Rochester drafted as the first booster. The 16 rares will give you a clue of what themes to expect in your pool. The 376 cardpool will be like a singleton cube mainly built around themes/decks that are played regularly like Deadly Ale, The Rock, Zombies, goblins, elves, prison etc etc. You can expect a lot of staples but only as a singleton. Each table will get a slightly different pool of cards with its own special themes.

Excited and want to practice? Here’s an example of a 376 pool that we will use on UTC V: Draft Table 1

You built a deck with the cards you have drafted. There will be a land station available but please don’t forget to return your lands afterwards. Bringing your own land is appreciated.

After playing 3 rounds the winner of each table will go to the top 4/8

Cap: 48 players (34 registered)
Fee: 40 euro (you get to keep the cards)

Pub-quiz (start around 21h)

Worlds 1995, 1996, 1997 & 1998 Cube draft (Start draft around 12- 12.30h)

Imagine it’s the summer of 1996. You find yourself in the lucky position that you have qualified for the World Championships. You have to prepare yourself for a booster draft and you also have to pick a deck for standard. The dominating decks during the Nationals were Necropotence, Turbo Stasis, Erhnamgeddon and Stormbind Control. Will the recent release of Alliances bring a shift in the Meta? Alliances brings some strong cards like Force of Will, Kjeldoran Outpost, Browse and Arcane Denial. In your local group some are really into creatures like Balduvian Horde and Ivory Gargoyle. Will those cards make the difference? Hmmm, you are in doubt. Maybe you should call your friend Olle Råde. After all, he just won Pro Tour Columbus, so maybe he knows what to expect? And are the same cards that dominate in standard also the cards that will dominate the booster draft? So many questions and so little time left…

Yes, yes, this year another special event that tries to bring you back to the good old days. This year we will built 4 cubes that represent a specific year at a specific moment, namely the meta during the World Championship in august. Each year has of course it’s own unique meta. Obviously 1996 was the year of NecroSummer. One year later Necropotence is still there but everything changed with the release of Mirage and 187-creatures are all over the place.

We will try to recreate the meta of the World Championships as close as possible taking into account the legal standard expansions and the banned and restricted list at that moment. To get an idea below is some information per year. You can click on the year, this will bring you to the World Cube where all sources used will be registered in the ‘Overview’ section, check ’em out! There’s a ton of information amongst others about decks we still know in Old School and Premodern like Sligh, Prison, Stasis etc etc. So not only are we playing a Cube on Sunday November 3. We are assembling a history database for each World Championships in the process. And I can tell you that there’s a lot to be learned. Lessons we can use in our beloved OS and PM formats as well.
Under the ‘List’ button you can find the cards that are selected for the Cube now. The Cubes are a work in progress, all participants are encouraged to provide more information/sources and make suggestions to improve the Cubes.

1995: legal sets at that time were –> Fourth edition, Chronicles, Fallen Empires and Ice Age. Banned cards: all ante cards
Restricted cards: Legendary cards, Channel, Ivory Tower, Feldon’s Cane, Balance, Mind Twist, Recall

1996: legal sets –> 4th edition, Chronicles, Fallen Empires, Ice Age, Homelands, Alliances. Banned cards: all ante cards, Mind Twist, Channel
Restricted cards: Balance, Black Vise, Ivory Tower, Zuran Orb

1997: legal sets –> Ice Age, Homelands, Alliances, 5th edition, Mirage, Visions, Weatherlight. Banned cards: all ante cards, Zuran Orb
Restricted cards: none

1998: legal sets –> Fifth edition, Mirage, Visions, Weatherlight, Tempest, Stronghold, Exodus. Banned cards: all ante cards
Restricted cards: none

Obviously the cards of the top 8 decks of Worlds of that year are well represented. Taking the top 8 decks is a good start but is not the whole story. So in the built-up to UTC we will do a lot of research. The nice thing is that anyone who wants to help is welcome to do so. Some of the research-results will be published during the Uthden Troll Cup, participants of the Worlds Cube draft will get a free copy of all the stuff we have created 😉
Let’s dig in to the past and see what we can learn!

The draft on November 3:

Four cubes, one for each year: 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998, 8 players per cube. After doing a booster draft, you built your minimum 40 cards deck, then you will play 3 rounds to determine who is the ‘world champion’ of your year. The winners from each table/year will do a top 4 to determine who is the Cube King of the Nineties!

Cap: 8 players for each world 199x-cube, 32 players total (32 registered)
Fee: 35 euro (including lunch and special event goodies)
